8 Unit Gourd Rack Combo (ComboGR8Kit)

Includes the 8 Unit Gourd Rack. Also included with the 8 Unit Gourd Rack Combo are 8 Troyer Vertical Gourds, the Standard Pole Guard Square and a Tunnel Trap.

The Troyer Vertical Gourd:

Durable: Troyer Gourds are blow-molded in white (sun-reflecting), opaque, high-density polyethylene plastic. They won't rot, peel, split, or crack out in the elements, and won't break if accidentally dropped like natural gourds can. Because they are molded with ultraviolet inhibitors added to the plastic, they have a long life expectancy with virtually no maintenance other than giving a quick scrub at the end of the season. The Troyer Tunnel is injection-molded using opaque UV-inhibited plastic.

Easy to Hang: Troyer Gourds can easily be hung underneath an existing martin house or from an any of the gourd racks we offer. No need to drill a hanging hole, they come pre-drilled with a 3/8" hanging-hole. Landlords will need to assemble the Troyer Tunnel on to the molded-in collar on the gourd.

Designed to benefit the Purple Martin: The Troyer Vertical Gourd reduces the risk of owl predation, due to its overall length of 13". The tunnel is trap-compatible for trapping House Sparrows with the included Troyer-Haskell Tunnel Trap. The extra-wide porch on the gourds give martins a place to lounge in the sun and the inner tunnels now have a wing-entrapment guard and traction tread. Each gourd has an additional perch area with traction on the Tunnel and comes with a pre-drilled 3/8”, front-to-back hanging hole. Gourds have high occupancy rates, plus reduce the incidence of fallouts and premature fledging. Now, busy landlords can offer their martins all the advantages of properly-prepared gourds, without investing the time and effort required to grow natural gourds, then add access doors and canopies, or repaint them every year or so.

Pole Guard Square:

Tunnel Trap:

Made from a heavy-weight aluminum and powder coated this two-piece trap fits ALL Troyer Tunnels.
Features two peak-out holes.
It traps English House Sparrows and last but not least - it also lets you capture the Purple Martin for band reading or for whatever reason.
The trap includes a powder coated aluminum shutter door and trip-wire.

Gourd Rack 8 Unit:

Features: It features a four-part pulley system for easy raising and lowering. The gourd arms slip easily onto the provided Gourd Mounting Arms. The all-aluminum hub has nylon glide tabs for squeak-free operation. Also included; eight Horizontal Straight Gourd Mounting Arms, 45-feet of polyester rope; an aluminum rope cleat; and a 2-inch-square aluminum pole assembly with a plastic pyramid pole cap and two solid 3/8" top perch rods.

Materials: Aluminum pole, aluminum ground stake, aluminum hub, aluminum braces, aluminum arm. Eight high-strength 3/8" solid aluminum gourd mounting arms.

Dimensions: Two-inch square high-tensile strength two-piece aluminum pole and stands 14-feet above the ground when installed. Square poles are superior in strength to round martin poles.

Gourd Arms: Eight 3/8" solid aluminum horizontal straight Gourd Mounting Arms The horizontal gourd mounting arms have a drilled hole at the end of the arm. Slip your gourd onto the arm and insert your supplied stainless hitch pin. The pin will keep your gourd from falling off.

Gourd Accommodation: Any plastic or natural gourd can be fitted to these horizontal-style gourd arms. If your gourds are not already drilled front-to-back in the upper neck, use a 13/32" drill bit to enlarge the hanging holes.

Four-part pulley system: Each of the pulleys carries a 1/4 of the load. If your 8 gourds and hub weigh a total of 40 pounds, you are pulling around 10 pounds. Always wear a good pair of grippy gloves when raising or lowering any gourd rack.
